Lasse Nipkow began his career in 1989 as an electronics technician at Studer Revox and subsequently studied electrical engineering at Technikum Winterthur. In 2003, he passed the examination to become a sound engineer with a Swiss federal diploma. From then on, he focused on acoustic recordings in rooms with exceptional acoustics and deepened his knowledge in applied psychoacoustics. Since then, he has produced recordings with internationally renowned musicians such as George Gruntz, Daniel Schnyder, the Gershwin Piano Quartet, and the Stradivari Quartet. In 2010, he began speaking at international conferences on 3D audio and the associated psychoacoustic phenomena. He has also been active as a lecturer at various educational institutions throughout Europe. Since 2015, he has been applying his insights from room acoustics to the world of electronically produced music. In 2022, he produced the 'Sonic Leaks' album by Silent Work in Dolby Atmos / Auro-3D, collaborating with his music partner Olaf Strassen. Also, in 2022, he began a PhD program under the supervision of Hyunkook Lee at the University of Huddersfield in England. Additionally, Lasse Nipkow has contributed to various publications, including the "Handbook of Sound Studio Technology," on which he collaborated with Günther Theile. The handbook is published by De Gruyter Saur and has been established as a standard reference in the field of professional sound studio technology for over 50 years.
